Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Queen Elizabeth national park is undoubtedly Uganda’s famous park known for harbouring a large number of animal species in the park, is located in the Kasese district about 370 km South-West of Kampala the capital city of Uganda. Queen Elizabeth national park, has a wider range of ecosystems comprising of Savannah, moist forest, lakes among others, which has harboured number of wildlife, birds and primate species.
Situated at the edge of the Rwenzori mountains, has offered magnificent panoramic views made of various lakes which has offering stunning views of parks famous attractions, the boat cruise is one of the perfect ways to explore the whole life at a glance as you sail along the Kazinga channel. The Kazinga Channel in Uganda is one of Queen Elizabeth National Park’s most spectacular sites. A shallow waterway ties the tiny George Lake with the wider Edward Lake. Streams from the Rwenzori Mountains give rise to the water in the stream. Such rivers fill the smaller Lake George and then pass through the canal of Kazinga and into the far larger Lake Albert in Kazinga Channel Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The 32 km wide Kazinga Channel has a large concentration of bats, crocodiles and hippopotamus. Most of the large mammals in Queen Elizabeth National Park are gathered for swimming, eating and grazing on the shores of the river, making it a great spot for watching wildlife. In Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Kazinga River, the hippo community is one of the world’s three highest in the world. Regardless of how many you’ve seen elsewhere, the great numbers here are going to surprise you greatly. Besides the hippos, it is convenient to see Nile crocodiles, buffaloes and other animals such as lions, monitor lizards and many antelope species along the Channel shores. During an Africa safari, the Kazinga Channel attracts almost every kind of animal you’d think about. If you’re lucky enough, you might even spot lions and leopards drinking by the channel, most especially during the dry season of the year whereby the animals gather in an area having water in the park.
Queen Elizabeth National park, was named after queen Elizabeth II, the queen of England. The parks has stunning attractions, which has offered a lot more things to see and various activities for the visitors in the park. some of the activities to do while in Queen Elizabeth national park, include; The Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth is famous for the tree-climbing lions and also the perfect destination for game viewing in the park, Chimpanzee trekking in the beautiful Kalinzu forest or Maramagambo forest, Kasenyi Mweya, Hot air balloon. Other activities include; Katwe salt works, hiking and nature walks, bird watching, Kazinga channel boat cruise, lion tracking and local community visits among others.
Queen Elizabeth, is open to travellers all throughout the year, but the best time of the year to visit is from June to September, and December to February which will the best experience of visiting the park. Despite the parks perfect game viewing in the park, the park is also a popular travel destination for many travellers on Gorilla trekking at Bwindi Impenetrable forest. You can also connect Queen Elizabeth to the Kibale forest for a chimpanzee trekking experience.
