Uganda sits on the equator, so temperatures stay fairly consistent year-round (typically 18–28°C/64–82°F depending on altitude) — what really changes by season is rainfall, and rainfall is what shapes trekking conditions, road access, and crowd levels.
Dry seasons — June to August, and December to February. These are Uganda's two dry windows and the most popular months to visit. Trails in Bwindi are firmer, roads are in better condition, and wildlife clusters around known water sources.
Wet seasons — March to May, and September to November. Trekking and game drives continue, just with muddier trails. In exchange: lusher scenery, better birding, fewer other travelers, and generally lower lodge rates.
For gorilla trekking specifically: any month works, but permit availability is the bigger constraint than season — book well in advance regardless of when you plan to travel.
